Playing Cards Are to Play the Game of Life
Cartomancy is the reading of cards. It's an ancient practice. No-one knows the origins of the deck of playing cards. There are records of them in ancient Egypt and ancient China. The oldest surviving manuscript we have about the real meaning of these "cards" says that they come from Atlantis, as in the lost continent of Atlantis.
In fact, these are not cards at all, but pages in a book. This little book without a binding is none other than the ancient and fabled Book of Life. It's older than the Bible. It is the same Book of Life that the Bible mentions more than 20 times. It forms the basis and foundation of our entire Western Spiritual Tradition.
To read meaning from these playing cards is called Cartomancy. And someone who reads playing cards for their meaning is a Cartomancer. These are perhaps strange sounding terms. If you add all the values of the cards together — Kings are worth 13, Queens 12, Jacks 11 and the Aces 1 — then you get the 4 suits multiplied by (1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10+11+12+13) = 364. All of the cards of all 4 suits add up to 364. There are 365 1/4 days each year. And, the Joker is the anomaly that makes up the remainder. The Joker is worth 1 1/4 or himself plus all 4 suits divided by all the 4 suits he represents.
So, you can see that the Playing Cards are actually equivalent to the earth's rotations around the sun. The cards are equivalent to our calendar year -- to the cosmic position in our solar system. These "cards" in fact represent symbolically the seasons and cycles of our life on Earth. The deck does not have a binding on it because the pages in the deck shuffle each year. So, although the pages are loose, it is still a book. It is a little book without a binding that represents our life patterns on Earth.
It is none other than the ancient Book of Life.
